You are an upper-division transfer applicant if you鈥檝e completed 60 or more transferable semester units (or 90 quarter units).  

To apply for admission to Cal State Channel Islands as an upper-division transfer student, you must: 

• have an overall college GPA of at least 2.00; your GPA is calculated using all your transfer units attempted 

• be in good standing at the last college or university attended; "Good standing" means you are eligible to re-enroll鈥痑t your last college or university鈥� 
• have completed general education courses (30 semester units or 45 quarter units) of basic skills courses, with a grade of C- or better, and specifically, four courses completed in the following areas (in either column):

You are a lower-division transfer applicant if you鈥檝e completed fewer than 60 transferable semester units (or 90 quarter units).  

To apply for admission to Cal State Channel Islands as a lower-division transfer student, you must: 

• have achieved an overall college GPA of at least a 2.00; this GPA is calculated using all your transfer units attempted 

• be in good standing at the last college or university you attended; 鈥淕ood Standing鈥� means you are eligible鈥痶o re-enroll at your last college or university鈥� 

• have completed (or will complete before the first term at Cal State Channel Islands), with a grade of C- or better, a course in Written Communication (GE Section A2) and a course in Mathematics or Quantitative Reasoning (GE Section B4) 

• have received a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate 

• have completed "A-G" course requirements in high school and GPA of 2.5 and above 

• meet the Eligibility Index required for first-time freshman 

Additional admissions criteria for lower-division transfer applicants:  

• High school graduates earning a GPA between 2.00 and 2.49, will be evaluated based upon supplemental factors posted on the Freshman Admissions page.  

• If you did not complete all the subject requirements in high school, appropriate college courses may be used to make up the missing subjects. One baccalaureate-level course of at least 3 semester (4 quarter) units is usually considered equivalent to one year of high school study. Non-California residents must meet the eligibility index for nonresidents. 

The following requirements pertain to both upper and lower division transfer applicants:  

• For fall admission, you must meet all transfer requirements by the end of the previous spring term. For spring admission, you must meet all transfer requirements by the end of the previous fall term. Admission is considered conditional until any in-progress coursework is satisfactorily completed and documented on official transcripts. 

• CSU campuses will accept 鈥淐redit鈥� or 鈥淧ass鈥� for all courses completed in Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall 2020 terms and in Winter, Spring or Summer 2021 terms, including courses taken to satisfy: the 鈥淕olden Four鈥� (A1, A2, A3, and B4); all other General Education courses; and major prerequisite courses. 

• Cal State Channel Islands will accept transferable coursework from institutions accredited by the following associations:  

• Higher Learning Commission (HLC) 

• Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) 

• New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) 

• Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) 

• Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) 

• Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)鈥� 

Yes. All admission requirements must be completed before the first term at Cal State Channel Islands. Admission is considered conditional until any in-progress coursework is satisfactorily completed and documented on official transcripts.

You can find your Dolphin ID number on the myCI student portal. Click on the link 鈥淒emographic Data鈥� under personal information, and the student ID should be listed there.

You can check your admission status and To Do list on myCI, our student portal. You should receive an email with instructions on you to access and set up myCI within three to six weeks of submitting your application at Cal State Apply.

If 测辞耻鈥檙别 admitted to Cal State Channel Islands, you will meet with an academic advisor and be guided into classes when attending your advising and registration session.

If 测辞耻鈥檙别 admitted, you will receive instructions on how to change your major during your scheduled advising and registration session.  

Please make sure you have signed up for the session that corresponds with your intended major. 

Cal State Channel Islands allows students to request a one-time deferment of their admission to the next available term. To make this request, email admissions@csuci.edu.  

If it has been more than one term since you鈥檝e been admitted, you will need to reapply.

 

Once you have applied to Cal State Channel Islands, you will see a 鈥測ellow triangle鈥� in the admissions section of myCI. This indicates that your application is still in progress. If you are admitted, the yellow triangle will change.  

In the meantime, you can ignore the yellow triangle鈥攂ut you should pay close attention to items on your To Do list on the right side of the dashboard.
