Cal State Channel Islands is committed to providing access to campus-sponsored events and activities. Individuals who need disability-related accommodation(s) may submit a request for event accommodations.

Submit your request as early as possible. If the event lists a deadline for accommodation(s) requests, submit your request by that date. If no deadline is listed, try to submit your request at least 10 business days before the event.

You can still submit a request after the deadline. We will review your request and work with you to determine what reasonable accommodation(s) can be provided.

  • Examples include, but are not limited to:

    • Academic ceremonies (e.g., Convocation and Commencement)
    • Campus tours and orientations
    • Lectures, guest speakers, and presentations
    • Workshops and conferences

    • Campus meetings and public forums
    • Other university-sponsored events and activities
  • Accommodations are determined on an individualized basis and depend on your disability-related needs and the nature of the event. Examples may include:

    • American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting
    • Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART)
    • Accessible seating
    • Alternate format materials
    • Other reasonable accommodations

    If you're unsure what accommodation to request, complete the request form or contact us. We'll work with you to determine appropriate accommodations.

  • This process helps coordinate disability-related accommodations for university-sponsored events. It does not provide:

    • Hotel accommodations
    • No spoken-language translation/interpretation (e.g., non-English languages)
    • Personal medical equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches)
    • Transportation to, from, or around campus
  • After you submit your request:

    1. We will review your request.
    2. We will contact you if we need additional information.
    3. We will work with you and the event organizer to coordinate reasonable accommodations whenever possible.
    4. We will confirm your accommodations before the event.
  • Yes. If you require a personal care assistant or personal attendant to support your disability-related needs, such as mobility, positioning, accessing materials, or other personal help, you're welcome to attend with someone who provides that support.

    The University does not provide personal care assistants.
